Dullo Recyclers get the Gong!

Help Us Help People with MS

The Dullo Recyclers are once again taking to the roads and taking part in the 2009 MS Sydney to the Gong Bike Ride in order to raise funds for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS). MS is the most common disease of the central nervous system and affects more than 18,000 Australians and we’re putting our bodies, reputations & pride on the line once again to support a worthy cause. OK we’re also indulging one of our little foibles of squeezing our blubber into Lycra as often as possible, but please don’t judge us on this.

Did you know?

* The average age of diagnosis of MS is just 30 years

* MS affects three times as many women as men

MS Australia aims to minimize the impact of multiple sclerosis on all individuals affected by the disease, as well as their families, carers and the community, by offering a wide range of services, equipment and support. MS Australia's goal is to assist everyone affected by MS to live life to their fullest potential and secure the care and support they need, until we ultimately find a cure.

Battery Backup for Mobiles - XPAL600

I invested in an external backup battery this week, not actually for my mobile phone but for a Bluetooth Interface device called an Impatica Showmate. It sits between any projector and a mobile phone such as a Blackberry or Smartphone allowing you to project Powerpoint presentations wirelessly via Bluetooth.
Anyway the Backup Battery is sensational, it has the same footprint as your Platinum Amex stacked 3 high, comes with 6 different connections for 6 different mobes and can give you an extra 3 hours or so. OK it doesn't happen all the time but we've all been out on the road and had the dreaded "Low Battery" Warning, followed by no service followed by an hour or two of angst wondering if we've lost all the data on our mobe and hoping that we haven't; not to mention that we can't get our twitter updates or find out where the hell we are or where indeed we are going as our mobe has also become our satellite location finder.
The XPAL600 is small, light and if it doesn't have the plug on board that fits your mobe, the suppliers will find the right one for you at no extra charge. Free tips for life I think it's called. Pity they don't offer that service for Randwick on Saturday.
Anyway, for $50-odd you can't go wrong, this will save you time, effort, energy, stress, angst and maybe even your job if it means you can keep that little sucker (with thanks to Obama) glued to your ear to clinch the next deal.
Drop me an email if you want to get one. barry@hots.com.au
Which, while I'm on my soapbox, get yourself a Bluetooth Earpiece or Handsfree, you've almost killed me 5 times this week with your mobe in your lobe while you're trying to turn the corner without spilling your mugaccino. Please, all you bozos out there who just don't get it, get it! For less than $50 you can invest in a cheapie or upgrade for about $100, even more if you've got cash to splash. Sure beats the fine but of course some of you just have the cash to splash so it probably doesn't matter. Talk to me about BT earpieces too barry@hots.com.au
Phew what a rant! Get a Backup Battery! Get a Bluetooth Handsfree! Get a Life! Cheers

Westmead Children's Hospital Visimax Donation

Tracey Marshall, Dr Peter van Asperen
Barry & Dr Peter Cooper

On Thursday 5th March, I visited the Respiratory Clinic at the Westmead Chidren's Hospital and donated 2 Visimax Mini Data Projectors to the department for use by staff and children and their families.
The idea was spawned by a very good friend of mine who has supported the Respiratory Department of the Children's Hospital for many years dating back to the hospital being located in Camperdown. Being a modest man, my friend prefers not to be named but his support of the Children's Hospital and particularly the Respiratory Department, stems from his own treatment at the hospital in Camperdown.

When Maxon Electronics Australia Pty Ltd heard about our intended donation, they kindly matched my friend's and my donation with a 2nd Visimax Mini Projector. Thanks to Dana Baggetto, Ray Sanders and Ross Gregory from Maxon for their generosity also.

We're hoping that the projectors get a big workout at the hospital and assist both staff and patients to enjoy their stay just a little bit more. And thanks to the Respiratory team above for the afternoon tea and for taking time to see us.

Westmead Children's Hospital is always open to sponsorship and donations and more information can be found by following the link below.

COOL HOTS

"I remain convinced that micro-projectors are among the coolest inventions of the year."
David Pogue New York Times December 11, 2008

One of the smallest data projectors on the market, the Visimax LED data projector is the answer to almost everyone’s data projection dreams; for portability, ease of operation, value for money and just downright cute, geeky, sexy, gizmodic funkiness, it has to be one of the best “sliced-bread” options for any or all of your data projection requirements, whether professional or personal.
